The unique properties of corn cob make Eu-Grits the ideal abrasive for certain vibratory finishing and blast cleaning uses. Eu-Grits are recognised by surface treatment professionals as very effective “soft” abrasives.
Vibratory finishing: the cob is used as a mild abrasive to dry, clean and polish soft metals. The natural honeycomb structure of the corn cob makes it highly absorbent, allowing it to clean detergent residues left on metal parts after treatment. Its hardness, equal to iron, results in an exceptional polished finish.
Blast cleaning: the vegetable alternative for polishing, scouring and cleaning. Unlike competitors such as walnut shells, corn cob does not burst and is resistant to attrition, allowing the high-performance product to be recycled. The abrasive corn cob absorbs shocks better and generates less dust. This means that our products are particularly suitable for sensitive uses such as historical monument renovation or in the watchmaking industry.
Absorption
With an internal honeycomb structure, corn cob has a high absorption capacity (1.5 times its weight in water), ideal for drying uses.
Very hard
With a hardness equal to iron (4.5 on the Mohs scale), the Eu-Grits range is dust-free and attrition-resistant (does not generate dust during use).
Precise and controlled particle size
The different particle sizes of the Eu-Grits product range are precise and controlled to meet process requirements.
Combustible
Once incinerated, the corn cob leaves only 2% residual ash, which reduces disposal costs.
